ARAG Day 2024
Published on 01/10/24
The 25th of September marked our second official ARAG Day, an initiative aimed at raising awareness of access to justice and fundraising for chosen charities across ARAG branches in every corner of the globe.
Following on from a successful bike ride 12 months prior, in which ARAG staff cycled from our Whiteladies office to HQ in Dusseldorf and back, the company thought it would only be right to smash last year’s target.
With the recent acquisition of DAS UK, an increase in staff highlighted the combined power of the business as one, with colleagues coming together to run, cycle, walk, row and swim as far as possible for our shared goals.
The disorder witnessed in Bristol and alleged targeting of the Bristol Law Centre only weeks ago provided a blunt reminder of the importance of our efforts, with the charity remaining as the beneficiary for our fundraising campaign.
The centre aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged people in Bristol and across the South- West through providing access to justice – proof of a common goal in our founding principles.
The route began at our Bedwas, South Wales office, before travelling past our two Bristol offices, then via Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Slovenia, Italy and finally finishing at ARAG Spain HQ in Barcelona.
Pre-ARAG Day, a variety of activities were recorded, including lunchtime walks around Bristol, Wellbeing walks in Caerphilly, and even trips around Yosemite National Park and the Swiss Alps!
Equipment kindly donated by Anytime Fitness in Clifton allowed us to gain even more mileage on ARAG Day itself, with colleagues coming together across our Whiteladies Road and Trinity Quay offices to cycle and row on static machines – accumulating over 500km between 9am and 5pm.
The mammoth effort provided a timely reminder of ARAG’s founding principles and the importance of having access to justice not only in the UK, but across the globe.
