Fixed recoverable costs in low value clinical negligence claims

From 1 October 2023, the FRC regime has not only extended to the fast track for cases of up to £25,000 in value, but also to a new, ‘intermediate’ track comprising of cases valued between £25,000 to £100,000. 05/09/24

Since our business was founded in 2006, ARAG has supported many charities and community organisations, and encouraged staff to provide practical help wherever we can. In June, for example, members of the ATE team climbed Yr Wyddfa in North Wales, otherwise known as Mount Snowdon, to raise money for the charity AvMA (Action against Medical Accidents). 17/10/2023

ARAG SE acquires D.A.S. UK

The ARAG Group and ERGO Versicherung AG, ERGO Group’s property & casualty insurer in Germany, have signed an agreement regarding the acquisition of D.A.S. UK, ERGO’s legal protection insurance business in the United Kingdom. Since 2006, the ARAG Group runs its UK operations via ARAG plc as Managing General Agent, reporting gross written premium under management of £61 million in 2022. D.A.S. UK started business over 40 years ago and today runs a legal expenses insurance company (D.A.S. Legal Expenses Insurance Company Limited) as well as a law firm servicing legal expense claims (D.A.S. Law Limited), which are both supported by an administrative services company ( D.A.S. Services Limited). Total gross written premium of D.A.S. Legal Expenses Insurance Company Limited was £129 million in 2022. 17/07/2023

Earlier this year, in partnership with the Law Society Gazette, we hosted a roundtable discussion, at Chancery Lane, London to talk about the subject of ‘LASPO 10 years on’. This was a very important event for us as it is highlights the need for “access to justice”, which has been declining since the LASPO Act was introduced.
