Flexibility has always been a cornerstone of ARAG's success – deeply embedded in both our product development and our partnerships. While some ATE providers may thrive on a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to underwriting, our commitment to adaptability sets us apart, especially in the Scottish legal market.

This distinctive approach has enabled us to build solid partnerships in Scotland by crafting solutions that address not just the unique demands of the Scottish legal system, but also the specific needs of individual firms and their diverse caseloads.

While ARAG is probably best known for providing cover for medical negligence actions, our policies are also used to insure the costs in personal injury or reparation, occupational disease and other types of legal action.

The nuances of the legal process and the needs of firms and their clients may be subtly different in Scotland, but court delays and higher interest rates have increased the same pressures on the balance sheets of law firms.

We have also used our scale and depth of understanding to develop and expand our disbursement funding solution, ARAG Advance, which can be used to help firms manage the funding of outlays in the cases that we insure.

When we talk about ARAG’s size and experience, it isn’t just the company’s financial strength and decades of sector specific knowledge across ATE claims, underwriting and account management that we’re referring to.

The sheer volume of claims experience that we have accumulated over many years of insuring legal risks, enables us to make much better decisions and tailor cover and premiums much more closely and accurately to a firm’s specific needs and clients.

This is probably why our Recourse Scotland product is proving to be so popular. As well as longstanding relationships with partners like Digby Brown, we’re also now working with firms like Lindsays and Thorntons to help them provide more certainty around litigation and deliver better outcomes for their clients.

But ARAG isn’t a business to rest on its laurels. Our founding principle of extending access to justice as widely as possible, and particularly to those who could not otherwise afford it, is what drives us to work with more firms and help deliver better outcomes to their clients.
