DAS UK was bought by the ARAG Group in January 2024.

 

Who are ARAG?

ARAG UK was established in 2006 and is an important part of the global ARAG Group, which is based in Düsseldorf in Germany. Our Group employs more than 5,000 people in 19 countries around the world and generates income of more than €2.4 billion.

ARAG was founded in 1935 on the principle that every citizen should be able to assert their legal rights, not just those who can afford it. That founding principle still drives ARAG today, in our commitment to affordable access to justice for everyone.

ARAG is now the biggest legal protection business in the UK, and we plan to expand further, offering more products and services and helping even more people and businesses get access to justice.

What does this mean for DAS policyholders?

ARAG acquired the DAS UK Group of companies which will continue to trade but will now be called ARAG Legal Expenses Insurance Limited. All of the policies that DAS has issued in the UK will continue unaffected, and we will process any claims just as they would have been processed by DAS UK.

So, while the branding on your legal expenses or assistance policy will change in 2025, the service and protection that you bought from your insurance provider will not.

We are already working on the next generation of ARAG policies, designed to include all the best features and benefits of both ARAG and DAS cover, but you will be notified of any enhancements and changes to your cover at renewal, once the policies have been updated.

What if I already have a claim?

Whether you need to make a new claim on your policy or already have a claim underway, we will continue to handle it in the same way, according to the terms of your policy.

From 2025, any correspondence that you receive will come from ARAG and any other content you see will carry the ARAG brand, but your claim will be dealt with by the same teams, working to the same processes and delivering the same great service.

What does this mean for our staff?

We’re committed to all of our employees and growing the new, larger business in the UK. We currently have numerous vacancies across various roles, and we’re creating new opportunities in the recently combined business.

Both businesses were based in Bristol, and we are currently in the process of bringing all the staff under the same roof, in ARAG UK’s new headquarters in central Bristol.
